Cappadocia Goreme hotel Old Stone House

In October 2024 we spent four nights at the delightful and authentic Old Stone House, in Goreme, where they launch all the balloons. This is a city of caves and stone. Our host, Mehmet, and his family welcomed us into their centuries old home. The balconies afforded views of the nearby caves, and in the morning the balloons floating by, sometimes close enough to wave at the passengers. Beds are super comfy, slippers provided, bath amenities, mini bar and heated towel rack.
Cappadocia is such a unique location and this hotel, so homey with a stellar breakfast buffet is only one block of
off downtown. Mehmet can help you book a balloon ride. You can rent a car or take a tour of nearby caves.
I wish I could include photos.
We booked through Booking.com. They give the old Stone House a 9,5 rating. If you are looking for a Turkish hotel, please consider the Old Stone House. Price is usually quoted in Euros and converted into dollars.

Thank you for the recommendation, Linda. Did you consider any other hotels while in Goreme? I've got 4 booked, including the Old Stone and am struggling to decide to which one to stay at?

We looked at several online but Old Stone House had consistently high ratings. When we arrived we concurred with those guests. It was so homey and Turkish. The hospitality of a family run hotel, as Rick Steve’s always says, makes for sweeter memories. I slept like a rock. We could walk everywhere from this location. Hope you consider them for your trip. Eat everything.

I will agree with the high regard . The Old Stone House took brilliant care of me while traveling solo there for four nights a few years ago. They arranged my airport pickup at Kayseri airport, departure from Nevsehir airport, a full day guided tour and a balloon ride they seamlessly re-scheduled when it started snowing right before lift off for less money than I could have piecemealed it. My room was huge and well appointed in what was probably one of the most unique settings I’ve stayed in.

I hate letting slip my favorite accommodations. Too many times I’m competing for the same rooms when I want to return but the Stone House in Goreme deserves a shout out.
