We are two thirds through our Swiss vacation. We have been to every corner and are staying in a cottage rental on the shores of the Zugersee at the foot of Mt. Rigi. It is a wonderful place and twice this week we have signed out bicycles from the vendor in town to bike around the lake. It will be recorded as one of the best things we did on our vacation. From 9:00 am to 7:00 pm there is a light blue bus parked outside the Coop City that will give you a bicycle for the day and even provide a helmet if you want. Just walk out of the Bahnhof on Alpenstrasse towards the lake. When you pass the Coop City turn left towards Bundesplatz. 100 meters ahead there will be a light blue bus on the left with its available orange bicycles parked outside. Sign a paper and leave your passport and take a bike for the rest of the day. My wife and I have done it twice. The bikes work well. The gears and brakes are well tuned. Each bike has a basket on the back for equipment or purchases during the day and the locks are uniquely efficient. The town of Arth is about an hour away down the East side of the lake. Immensee is about an hour away down the West side. The two are about 30 minutes apart. You can even go out into the forests past Baar in about an hour. None of the terrain is difficult. We enjoy being active and seeing the sights. This was a wonderful way to relax in a relaxed area of Switzerland.
