For those of you who will not have a car and want to see a little more of Croatia than the Old Town of Dubrovnik, I highly recommend the wine tours offered by Sasha at D'Vino Wine Bar. Locate in the old town right off Stradun (the main street), D'Vino is an oasis of friendly folks and excellent wine. Sasha offers tours to the Peljasac Peninsula where many fine wineries are located. The lovely views and the excellent lunch give a very much needed view of the relatively untouristed countryside surrounding Dubrovnik and offer a fascinating snapshot of the burgeoning wine industry in Croatia. We visited 4 very different wineries, the highlight being our last visit with winemaker Anto Grgurevic and his wife. We toured his vines, learned the history of the vineyard and why certain grapes grow so well in the particular microclimes of his location. And the wines!! Highly recommended!
