My husband and I were planning to travel to the Amalfi Coast this fall. We wanted to hike Mt Vesuvius. Is the national park open? We've heard reports that the park and most of the trails are closed due to the fire last summer.

The fire damage is extensive. I will only say that we tried to ride the bus that is described as a "monster truck/bus" that normally takes the road behind Vesuvius, and that road is not operational now. They took us up the road closest to the coast, by a coach bus. We did enjoy the summit very much!
