I am spending 2 days in Verona? Any suggestions on restaurants and maybe hidden must see
Forgive me if this is too obvious, but I know seeing a concert at the ancient arena is a popular thing to do there. https://www.arteconcerto.com/arena-di-verona?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22705161282&gbraid=0AAAAAD2J5rNlfVHHt23zBAr3ERjFSpfXM&gclid=CjwKCAjwrNrQBhBjEiwAoR4VO00Lmuj6-oSLFlLD1Qe39aSOa5eAJD3l7tFQdWGI0X5CPbWNxSuL7RoCAGAQAvD_BwE
Take the funicular up to Castel San Pietro for some stellar views. My daughter & I went up there last time to sketch. I requested a larger sketch of that location for my birthday last year from her - very special! And yes, definitely attend whatever event is happening in the outdoor Roman arena. i’ve attended an opera and a concert there.
My daughter treated me to Locanda 4 Cuochi, a Michelin restaurant, which just happened to be next to the hotel I like to stay - Hotel Bologna.
I have dined at Ristorante L’Orologio numerous times and have never been disappointed. They serve excellent local cuisine and have an extensive wine list available by the glass. At times, I felt as if I were the only non-local in the restaurant. It’s at Corso Porta Nuova 7/B, just a few steps from Piazza Bra.
If there is any way to attend a concert or opera (if you are there summer opera season) in the arena, please please book a ticket. During two visits to Verona in the past, I have attended Aida and Carmen and both were spectacular, never-to-be-forgotten experiences. The arena has a website where you can see upcoming performances and can book tickets.
We also ate at Ristorante L'Orologio and second the recommendation. I would also recommend Dal Pesci for seafood.
Verona is a lovely city to walk around, with many beautiful churches. The downloadable audio guides in several of the churches were particularly good. We followed the walking tour from the Rick Steves guidebook and popped into many of the sites.
Thank you to my fellow travelers for all your suggestions. Great information. Loved Verona.
