The rain gear in Norway is amazing. I bought a new poncho in Bergen because it was so beautiful. I'd never seen anything like it in the states. And it's quality!
Norway is an informal country and it suited me perfectly. I'm a no makeup, casual clothes kind of old lady and I felt like I found my tribe.
I kept reading advice on travel discussion boards from Norwegians saying to avoid Flam and Geirganger because of the cruise ships and they are too touristy and there are plenty of other more lovely places in Norway. We did manage to avoid cruise ships in both those towns except for the days we were leaving. It's true that they overwhelm the towns, but it's really not that bad. That being said, it's VERY true that there are plenty of other beautiful places in Norway. It really doesn't matter where you go, there are beautiful views and waterfalls everywhere. So you don't HAVE to see Flam and Geiranger. The surrounding areas are gorgeous.
I'm happy to answer any questions. We loved Norway and I hope to return.
