Trip to Dublin, Ireland April 2025

I went to Howth, Dublin Ireland for a High School reunion. Stayed in Howth at the Harbour Bar. Daragh has a couple of studio apartments that are about a 5 minute walk from Howth Harbour. The Harbour Bar is a local tavern (neighborhood bar), right across from the Abbey Tavern, it used to be the Cock Tavern. The Harbour Bar, only serves drinks but the venue is terrific. Some of the locals bring their dogs. Daragh has 4 cats that like to taunt the dogs. The pub had a big fire going, which was nice as it was cold and rainy. The Abbey Tavern, great eats. Howth has been a destination dating back to post cards (1901). While in Howth I did a tour of Howth Castle very worth the E20. Tours are only on Sundays. Book online. I also went to the Rhododendron Gardens and saw Aideens Cromlech/Dolmen (grave) that dates to 284 AD. I took the DART (train) into Dublin The DART is very efficient, and cost effective. While in Dublin I went to the EPIC Museum, The Irish Emigration Museum. Very enjoyable, and historically accurate. Went to Trinity College Dublin and did the self guided tour of the Book Of Kells, The Book Of Kells Experience. I'd advise this. It's very crowded, and for the average person you don't need tour guide. Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592. Toured St. Patrick's Cathedral dates back to 1191. A lot of history, and the audio guide is packed full of information. We also ate at the House Restaurant, very good but a bit pricey. Had lunch at O'Connell's bar, good food good prices. When you're in Howth, do the cliff walk on a fair day it has amazing views of Wicklow, Lambey Island, Dublin Bay, The Bailey Light House and you can see the EIRE 6 sign.

Dear Michael,
I used Airbnb. The 2 studio apartments are called "Condo in Dublin", the picture has a photo looking out to sea showing a Martello and row houses on the bottom of the photo.... and "Apartment in Howth" the picture shows the restaurant across the road "30 Church St" with the harbour and St. Mary's Abbey in the background. All correspondence with Daragh was through Airbnb. I spent about $180/night. I needed the connivence of being close the Abbey Tavern (reunion) and the DART.
