Once we left the AC, we headed to Assisi where my husband had work meetings. We took the train from Naples to Rome then to Assisi. On our way to Assisi the train broke down and left us stranded waiting for another train to come. After several hours we managed to get to Assisi and start the 2nd part of our trip. It was crowded but not over whelming. I took a cooking class at Alla Madonna Del Piattto and a tour at Teli Vini winery. Again met wonderful people. Despite the problem with the initial train, we decided to brave it again and take the train back to Rome which was uneventful, so we chalked up our difficult train ride to part of our adventure.
There are some things I would have done differently, probably not fly into Rome when going to the AC. Naples would have been better and I would have liked to spend a day in Naples. We definitely need a few more days in the AC as traveling took up several of our days (several of you warned me of this).
Looking forward to our next trip, I feel like I will be better prepared and definitely will stay in the smaller towns.
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and help
Your entire trip sounds lovely. Thank you for sharing!
I always need a few more days. Sounds like a wonderful trip and glad it went so well (even with the train hitches)
Thanks for your trip report to the Amalfi Coast. We are planning a 4 week trip to Italy in March and want to spend a couple of weeks just exploring the Amalfi Coast. We like staying in smaller towns when we travel. Any other suggestions you have would be great.
Furore was really the smallest town we visited, a little higher up was Agerola which we drove through and seemed charming but we did not stop there. A couple we met at dinner one night recommended Conca dei Marini but again we did not go there. Hope you have a great trip
