I'll save all the trip details until after we return, but feel like this is already an extra special religious trip. Went to the Easter fire and vigil Mass in St Stephen's Cathedral led by Cardinal Schoenborn (more below). Early Monday was in St Martin's in Bratislava when my inner voice said get out your phone and go check the world happenings (probably a sin to check your phone while in church but we had been through a few Jubilee Year doors this trip so I'm hoping for some leeway here) and I read that Pope Francis passed away. So were we spitting distance - figuratively speaking of course - from the next pope just 36 hours earlier? And today we're in Krakow and I'm sitting in the exact spot in the church where St Pope John Paul II used to pray when he was here. Pass the holy water, what's next!
Wait how do you know who the next Pope is? Enjoy your trip. Maybe buy lottery tickets?
I read he is one of the more likely possibilities.
Amazing telepathy.
French news showed about 7 front runners last night. I’ve got a favorite.
The New York Times speculated a number of names as well (article gifted below). I think it goes without saying there's a lot of road to travel between now and the white smoke. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
