Trip Report Salerno, Amalfi, Sorrento continued

On our last day in Sorrento, May 1st, a holiday in Italy, we had a drive pick us up at our hotel and drive us to the National Archaeologic Museum in Naples. We were 2nd in line when they opened. they very nicely stored our carry ons for free. We spent about three hours there, some of the galleries and exhibits were closed, but there is still plenty to see and crowd wise it wan too bad. There were some tour groups, but they move along quickly. We had a sit down lunch at the cafe before heading to the Naples train station to go back to Rome for a final night. We stayed at Hotel Tiber which was fine, it was nice to stroll along the water, but I can't recommend the restaurant, but we were tired and didn't know of a better option. We took their shuttle to and from the airport (7 euro)which was a blessing because the Rome airport taxi line was interminable.

So all in all a great trip to an area I have always wanted to see. I failed to mention in my earlier post we went to Capri from Sorrento. Super crowded, we immediately took the very packed bus up to Ana Capri, which was also very crowded but we went straight to the chairlift up to Mt Solare where the line was not long, and we liked the views very much, saw a few mountain goats. We also went to the villa there which wasn't crowded and we enjoyed it. As soon as we were done with those two things we got the first bus we could back down to the ferry dock. Did not take the funicular up to Capri Town- just way too crowded. I would like to do this trip again, though I don't know if we would ever have as much luck with the weather and I don't know when to go when it's not so busy, but I would try to avoid the April 25 and May 1 holidays which both fell on a Friday this year.
