My husband and I will be traveling to Central/Eastern Europe the end of September 2013 for about 2 weeks. We will arrive in Vienna on a non-stop flight. We plan to go to Budapest, Krakow, and Warsaw. When we arrive in Vienna, I am trying to select between Trieste and Ljubljana for a 3 night stay. Which city would you recommend?

I've been to Llubljana on one of the tours and it was lovely, but never Trieste. Not sure that Ljubljana itself would be worth 3 days. We rented a car for a day trip out to the Postojna Caves and Predjama Castle.
