Did you witness any of the demonstrations while you were there? Did any of you feel any insecurity about your safety as tourists (anti Western sentiments)? I'm not expecting that, but it would be good to hear from a recent visitor.

I must tell you that I did not see any. I did hear some and I saw video tape of some in Cairo on their local news but the police and security forces in Egypt will not tolerate violence. They will allow peaceful demonstration. I also noticed that security was very very heightened And police presence was visible everywhere did not feel threatened and did not feel unsafe. when I got home here and started listening to the news. I started to wonder maybe I should’ve been more concerned, but Egypt is committed to security before we went to Egypt. We stopped in London for a few days and I did see more demonstrations in London Actually . I also came away. Also that Egypt does not want Hamas secretly moving into the Sinai and that’s why they will keep their border closed. It’s for their own security.

Yes, I, too appreciate your additional information. I am not strong in Middle East politics between countries and was not sure why the gate was being kept closed. Now I understand. Thank you.

Thanks for your update. I know it is 1 1/2 yrs out. Things change quickly but I am scheduled for an AmaWaterways cruise in Feb 2025.
