I use American Airlines frequent flyer points for my independent European trips, and when purchasing, there is an offer to buy basic insurance from Allianz, which I always do since it is cheap, but it does not cover the cost of a pricey trip. When I take a set RS tour, I also purchase more tour inclusive insurance from Nationwide. On one trip, I had to file a claim for trip interruption, because what was supposed to be a non-stop flight to Rome, had to land in PHL due to a crazed passenger, and we were forced to find a hotel room to remain overnight and also re-book our connecting flight from Rome to Sicily, which required an added last minute expense. Allianz sent me a check within the week I filed the claim, and Nationwide Travel sent a check for the remaining expenses within 2 weeks of submitting my claim.

This is asked and discussed at least once a week. Def do a search for this in the search bar.

If you have USAA, they get a great discount with Travel Insured and we use them - we've had to file a claim twice and it was done very well - we got all our money back.

If you don't have USAA, I'd price compare Travel Insured VS Allianz - I hear good things about both. Just be sure you are comparing apples to apples and get a good medical evacuation plan included.

We've had a couple of medical claims with Travel Guard that were paid within three weeks of filing. Very easy to deal with.
