Travel alert/ information the new normal.

Just returned from a 3 week trip to Europe Spain (Madrid) Portugal (Lisbon,Porto)and Germany (Rhine Vally). If you are planning a trip I will recommend watching the RS Monday Night travel,Pandemic Travel with Cameron Hewitt is very accurate the few things I will add are :
Give you self more time to research the country requirements and to feel the paperwork ,applications or app’s .
Will recommend having a smartphone with international plan must form’s are on line.
I traveled with my RS travel guide books 2019 all prices are from 3 to 6 euros more and some of the free entrances specially churches require and entrance fee . Restaurant are 10 to 20% more .
Mask are required on buses ,trains and metros . Your vaccine card will be checked on hotel at check inn and in Germany at restaurants.
Will recommend traveling less crowded and felt more welcome . Just slow down give yourself more time get your shots and enjoy .

Thanks for the info. We have been trying to figure out how to get to Paris since our trip was cancelled. Next year is very busy for us with babies being born (3), a wedding, my dad’s 100th birthday, and family from Croatia finally coming for a visit. I am hoping, my DH just rolls his eyes, that if the winter isn’t too snowy, don’t mind the cold, we could do a quick, last minute trip in late February or March. One baby is due early February and that requires a quick trip to Texas. I know, everyone should have such problems, but at least on this forum I don’t feel judged for my thinking.

I so get you Barbara! I would consider it if I was you. In spite of hubby’s eyes rolling! We managed to sneak in our Viking River cruise…recent mid Oct trip. To Paris, Germany, Prague. It was Europe’s “sweet spot” before their Delta spiked!! No crowds and people were very welcoming! Wonderful! So many friends and family could not believe we were going! Thankful we did!
You will not regret it. By late winter things will be getting better there again. Do it before babies and wedding. Those 3 little ones will keep you busy and you need to cuddle them! If you wait you’ll get the crowds and lines….all of those that waited. Fingers crossed for you!

Barbara- my husband and I usually head to Paris for Valentine’s Day (our wedding anniversary). It’s cold, but not brutal at all, and hardly and tourists. In fact, we were able to get close up to the Mona Lisa with ease. This year we are headed for Christmas with our kids and I’m sure it will be completely different!

Take that trip- life is way too short!

Its also a good time to consider expanding your interests. Many of the top destinations discussed on this forum are more complicated to visit and more expensive to visit thanks to COVID. Many less understood destinations have have changed little because of COVID. Yes, there are still places that you can enter on a CDC card alone and there are regions where you can cross one border after another with nothing but a CDC card. It is more obvious recently that Europe is not a destination, but a collection of destinations; each unique, beautiful, but most importantly different. But all very good advice.
