On Sundays In the plaza in front of the Museo de Belles Arts in Seville local artists gather to display and sell their works. Wow! I was so impressed with the quality of work. After an hour of narrowing my choice, I purchased an oil painting of somewhere in the Alcazar garden painted by a lovely young woman. Wish I spoke more Spanish so I could have really talked to her. Now that I am home and looking at the painting, I find myself plotting a return visit . . . soon.

That market made a good impression on me, too -- reminded me of the one in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia.
Gives interesting additional perspectives on John Singer Sargent's use of light and shadow in his Spanish and Italian watercolors. Glad to hear you scored a good souvenir!
