I'm hoping somone can help me with a question. A few years ago we visited Paris. We hired a driver that told us that there are 22 avenues heading into the Champ Elysees. He said the streets are all tree lined and the avenues are not, except for one avenue. Is there anyone that could clarify this for me. Thank you!!
Denise
That's not anything I've heard, but I never noticed. If I were trying to answer the question I'd fire up my computer, click on Google Earth or Google Maps Streetview, go along the Champs and down the streets and avenues and have a look. In about 10 minutes you'd have your answer.
Thank you
By my count, there are 22 'roads' from the Champs-Elysées (not counting the traffic circle at Franklin D Roosevelt); I'd say the opposite - that all 'avenues' but one (debatable) are tree-lined and the 'rues' are not. For those playing at home, I won't say which avenue isn't tree-lined...send me a PM if you give up ;-) And thanks, Denise, for the Google Street View map trip through Paris! That's always time well spent for me.
Oh Eileen . . . Just tring to finish my journal . . How does one know for sure. Thanks!
