Stiftsbackerei St. Peter - Salzburg

We were wandering the streets and alleys near St Peter's and came across this marvelous little bakery. It's run by the monks and is the oldest bakery in Salzburg. They sell a sweet bun with raisins(1E) and a sourdough type of bun with caraway seeds in it (.80E) - to die for !! There is a waterwheel right next to the bakery and it supplies electricity to run the flour mill. Make an effort to find this little gem - you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the reminder, Susan. We thought it wonderful when we discovered it, too. I think I even wrote a review here blowing its trumpet.

Yummy bread.
