Some Trulli Truths

We have just visited Locorotondo, Ostuni and Alberbobello. Loved them all, but each is different. We stayed in a Trullo outside of Locorotondo because we are not city dwellers back home and prefer quitetude. Also, when driving, it is so handy to be able to pull the car right up to the lodging instead of hunting and scrambling to find a "P" spot and then doing the suitcase schlep up cobbled streets to the room. Ours was really perfect, completely modernized and well stocked. The best part--an actual washing machine. That's huge since it's been 32 days without one.
My take on the three towns, and it's purely subjective: Loco, we liked best in that it is charming and not overly clogged with tour buses, etc. Small and very walkable old town. Ostuni was different--less about Trulli and more about old white buildings with Baroque charm climbing up the steep lanes. Seemed more active with young peeps. Alberobello is so cute it hurts. Trulli central. One atop another, whitewashed fresh and bright. We were there by 9:30 AM on Easter morning (a 10-minute drive from Loco) and it was already getting busy with tour groups. I can only imagine what it would be like midday, mid-season! Not for us.

Thank you, Bill, for your updates, and I sure have been enjoying your FB photos, also!

Your comments are making me feel comfortable that my plans to stay overnight in Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina France - even though they are in very close proximity, is the right decision for me. I love seeing & photographing the old city centers in the evenings & early mornings when the day trip people & tours are gone. And having the chance to sleep in a trullo in both Alberobello & Martina Franca will be special!

We are picking up a friend in Ostuni train station and we are wondering where to park? We will be coming from Martina Franca. Any ideas? We also like staying on outside of towns.
