I discovered Martin Sloboda through a blog post of Rick's. I took a risk and made direct contact as I was going to Slovakia to search for family roots. I couldn't have been more pleased with Martin. From our initial contact, he took a personal interest. He worked with us on the price for his 3 1/2 days as our guide, arranged all accommodations, met us at the station and returned us there when we left, personally drove us across the country to find the church my family attended 800 years ago. Although he runs his entire agency and could have set us up with one of his employees, he took a personal interest in us and we spent many hours together talking about all manner of things in addition to the riveting history of Slovakia. His knowledge of his country is vast, his command of English is more than excellent, and his personal background is admirable. His pride at what his country has accomplished in its 20 years as an independent nation is contagious and made me even more proud of my heritage. Martin Sloboda is the single best guide I have had anywhere at any time.
