I have a free day in Rome on Palm Sunday and was wondering if sites will be open or crazy busy? Sites such as: San Pietro in Vineoli, Scala Sancta, The Borghese Gallery, Castel Sant Angelo, and other ancient sites around Rome.
Why don't you check the websites of these places?
Well, yes, I assumed a church would be open, but some are not 100% open, some sections seem to be closed and not sure if they would be mobbed with people. So I was wondering if anyone, (a tourist), had actually been to these sites on that day, or would my time be better spent having a relaxing picnic on the Spanish Steps.
It's a while since I was in Rome but I think having a picnic on the Spanish steps is now against the law. You'd best google each of the museums or other non-church places you have in mind for their Palm Sunday schedules.
