Siopa Ceoil Music Shop

We have been traveling for the last 20 years using Rick's travel guide books. However, the best advice we have received was a mention of a music shop in Dingle, Ireland. We were in Ireland and Scotland for 3 1/2 weeks, traveling without reservations. We had planned on 2 nights in Dingle and ended up staying 4....due to our visit to this little shop. The owners, Michael and Dara Herlihy were so warm and welcoming that they made our trip. We attended one of their small intimate Trad concerts and were treated to outstanding local talent (plus an Irish Coffee at the break). Additionally, along with the bodhran drum we bought, Michael gave us a music lesson. Dara knows Dingle intimately, and made sure that we saw all of the best musicians, dancers and local sights. They made our visit to Dingle a magical wonderful memory. Since Ireland is all about the culture, people and music, this shop and the Herlihys deserve a three triangle rating. We recommend that this be your very first stop in Dingle and make attendance at one of their concerts a priority. Tickets sell out quickly. Bob and Diane Isaacson

I can definitely second your sentiments. We were in Dingle in 2013 on RS Ireland tour. Michael had an music demo while we were in the shop and help my wife pick out a penny whistle and some music. Truly warm and helpful people. We also attended the music show at the shop, including some dancing from an Ireland national champion. We would love to go back again. Not to be missed. Plus, they have some really hard to find traditional Irish music on CDs.
