Many years ago i stumbled upon a sheep dog trial in North Ireland. Hoping to recreate that experience I searched the internet and found nothing. There is a farm in Kerry that does demos for tour groups and individuals but I wasn't going there. Through my hotel, i found Joyce Country Sheepdogs in the Connemeara area. Joe is an outstanding guy - kind, informative and down to earth. He has 200 head of sheep he grazes on the nearby mountains and needs dogs to do the work. Running a small dog training business on the side, allows him to be a stay at home Dad. You will enjoy watching the dogs in action, learning how they do their work, learn about the sheep business (he only gets 1 Euro for the wool of each sheep) and holding his puppies. I highly recommend this - for the beautiful drive and a enjoyable two hours.
