Secret Cottage tour of the Cotswold, England

What an extraordinary day in this beautiful region of the Cotswold. Becky and her daughter Polly welcomed us into their special part of their daily lives and made it magical. From the moment we were warmly greeted at the Moreton-in-Marsh train station (a quick train ride from Paddington Station London), we knew we were in for a great experience.

As the day went on, each stop was more spectacular than the next. This private tour consists of 6 adults in each vehicle with Becky and Polly driving their well kept mini vans. Their knowledge and commentary was historic, interesting and delightfully comical. After several days of touring bustling London sites, this was a great respite day trip.

We ended our journey with a cream tea in Becky's lovely thatched roof cottage. What a bountiful spread of delicious sweets and beverages. We got to tour their home and meet the rest of their family.

There aren't enough words to describe this dynamic duo and the positively incredible day that we were lucky enough to spend with them.

Becky delightfully informed us that Rick Steves took the tour a week before our scheduled tour. Rick, we trust you had as wonderful an experience as we did.

So glad to read your trip report! I took this tour with Becky herself doing the driving and had a wonderful day, a highlight of my trip to England in Sept. 2017. I hope Rick will write it up in his guidebook as I'm sure he enjoyed it too!

I took this tour last year and also loved it. It was a great day and well worth the cost. I enjoyed the visits to Becky’s cottage, and all the scenery. At one point we went for a short walk through a field after visiting one village. We also lucked into seeing a thatcher at work rethatching a cottage.

How nice you were able to enjoy this terrific tour! With 3 of my sisters & 2 lovely ladies from New Zealand in our van of six - we had one of our best days in the Cotswolds in September, 2016 on this tour. Becky, Polly & Tim were so welcoming & fun - from the wine cellar below the kitchen floor to Polly's lesson on their AGA range. We would do it all over again if we are ever in the area. Three years later we are still reminiscing about this delightful day.

I just wanted to come back to this thread & say we had a wonderful time on our Secret Cottage tour in September. We were staying in Oxford & caught the train to Moreton-in-Marsh. We had Polly as our driver and she gave us a great tour. Becky drove the other van and we met up at each stop. Such a lovely day and the cream tea at the end was wonderful! If you take the tour, make sure you don't eat a large lunch & leave room for all of the treats! We really enjoyed going into Secret Cottage after seeing so many cottages from outside. This was a real treat!

Sounds wonderful. We did our own thing in the area and wished we had taken the tour. Thanks for the information.
