Schiphol airport has a way to reserve a timed spot for security. It is FREE. I recently mistakenly used “ my trip” because it came up when I entered make reservation at schippol. It is a SCAM!! It said the cost was $10 but charged me over $80. Fortunately my credit card caught it. Be aware of this scam. Only use the schippol website!!!
“Only use the schippol website!!!”
Luckily your credit card caught it.
Unfortunately smart people often make use of things that are free by charging you a fee to book the free thing for you. It’s usually stated in the small print somewhere, so technically it’s not a scam.
There are also people who make smart use of people misspelling names, to direct them to websites that almost seem identical to the official website but with the misspelled name. That’s why I always correct a spelling mistake of a Dutch name when I see one.
The airport in Amsterdam is named Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Schiphol, not Schippol, Schipol or whatever spelling that’s frequently used here.
The website to book a free security time slot is https://www.schiphol.nl/en/page/timeslots/
Interesting concept. We will be flying into Amsterdam in May 22. I’m going to Set a reminder for myself to try this out.
