It was dark when our train arrived in Salzburg. We took a taxi to our hotel, Institute St. Sebastian. We checked in, ped our bags, and walked to the Stein Terrasse cafe. WOW! That view! That view alone is worth a stop in Salzburg. Mom really, really loves Rothenburg ob der Tauber. She said this was the "Rothenburg" of this trip with all the tiny, winding, medieval streets, etc. Doing laudry at St. Sebastian: We signed up for 2 loads of laundry. Well, we were thinking "2 washers and 2 dryers". Nope. They only have 1 washer and 1 dryer. When we reserved "2" that meant we reserved 2 time-slots. We actually got everything into one load so it all worked out just fine. Tide Pods work great when travelling. The rooms at St. Sebastian were great. The door from the hallway opened up to a tiny foyer that then had doors to our 2 rooms. So we could open the bedroom doors, but keep the door to the hallway closed for privacy. Each room had its own bathroom. The bells? They didn't bother us, but we are people who are up before the chickens. We ate breakfast there each morning. Bob's SOM tour: We took the 9 am tour. They do pick you up at your hotel, but know this for St. Sebastian: you have to go through the back courtyard to the next street for the pick up spot. That afternoon we did the RS Salzburg walks. The next day, I went to the Salzburg History museum (very well done) while mom did laundry and husband went to the post office. Then we all went on the bus to Bertchesgaden for the Eagles Nest Historical tour.
