I went on a Rick Steves My Trip to Italy September 2012. It was truly wonderful. We had 24 travel partners on the trip and there was a broad variety when it came to travel experiences. Some of the folks were taking their first trip to Italy, First Rick Steves Trip and there were several of us who have been on numerous RS trips and numerous trips to Italy. Our Escort (Julie) works in the RS office in Edmonds and she provided just the right amount of info for us. She had "office hours" each day when we could meet "1 on 1" with her and ask specific questions about what we wanted to do our see. We started in Venice and ended in Rome......see the My Trip itinerary on this site to see where we went. The weather though warm was nice and we only had rain one afternoon in Lake Como (Varenna). It was great to have the bed, breakfast and bus taken care of and then have free time to do what we wanted in each location. Years ago I had been on a Bed, Breakfast, and Bus trip with ETBD to Scandinavia and I am so glad to see this type of tour returning. I hope that additional tours are added to the My Trips; I'm sure they will be very popular.
(It was RS tour #7 for me and I LOVED IT !!!)
Thanks for posting, I know many people would like to read reviews on the tours posted like this instead of in the question and answer format provided on the "Tour Feedback" forum. Glad you enjoyed the trip and it sounded like a fun stressfree trip.
Frances - Glad you enjoyed your trip. Can you add anything about what sights you liked or didn't like? Also, how much did you interact with the other tour members? Did you tour together some days or meet for dinner?
Grier, I traveled with 2 friends and the 3 of us tended to do things together. I would say that 4 or 5 times during the trip we joined a couple or 2 for dinner for lunch. It was a real combo of travelers doing stuff on their own or asking others to join them. Each tour group is different, so it is hard to say what each trip would be like. We did all gather for a dinner on the last night. Are you planning a trip to Italy? if so, where. I've been there 6 times all over from north to south and back....so I could give you specifics if you want.
