Rick Steves' Berlin guidebook

Recently spent a week in Potsdam and Berlin and used Rick's new Berlin guidebook. The book was worth every penny (we used the paper edition). It was invaluable in providing info on sites, transportation, etc. Big two thumbs up to Rick for helping us make the most of our time there. We also had a book from another source but the RS guidebook was so much better that we threw away the other book.

Heartily concur, we used the new Berlin guidebook last month. I had the Germany book (an e-book) for other parts of our trip, but relied on the Berlin book (paperback) for our visiting Berlin, Potsdam, Sachsenhausen etc.

There isn't a better series of guidebooks on the market for the logistics of getting from Point A to Point B in a city. The maps for self-guided tours of cathedrals, castles, museums, etc. are also outstanding. I also found the Rick Steves Audio Europe walking tours and guide interviews to be very helpful in preparing for a trip (e.g., the Royal Mile walking tour in Edinburgh, or French wines or Amalfi Coast, etc.). I am a little less enthusiastic about the restaurant and hotel recommendations, so I usually supplement the RS information with a Lonely Planet guidebook (or download an individual pdf chapter from their website) and do some research on the internet.

Yup, we took the RS Berlin book out of the library and brought it to Berlin a few years ago along with Fodor's Berlin. Both complemented each other quite nicely.
