Review of Easybus from CDG to Palais Royale

I went ahead and tried Easybus this time. I didn't prebook it since it was hard to know which bus I'd take. They run every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. Lowest price offered online was about 2 Euros. I've seen it up to 8 Euros.

Had my directions - Terminal 2F, arrivals level. We wandered around looking for it for a good 30 minutes. We asked for help twice and both times were told we were in the right place. But there is no signage whatsoever. The second person we asked for help told us to exit through Exit 5 and so we did but there was just nothing to indicate Easybus went there. We found 3 other people looking lost and they were also looking for Easybus. We all stood around for about 20 more minutes and then, miraculously, the Easybus arrived at :46 after the hour.

Driver was fine...charged us 10 Euros, which suprised me, but I was wiped by that point. Probably wouldn't use it again and DEFINITELY wouldn't use it to get to the airport. If you decide to use it, just exit door 5 and wait there.

Thanks for this. Since Rick Steves wrote about the new EasyBus service at CDG, we've been planning to take it FROM the airport in May. We will still give it a try but will have a Plan B in case it doesn't show up. And we'll definitely make other plans to get TO the airport.

We pre-booked with Easy Bus last summer. While it did save us money for our family of five (4 euro per person), it took more than an hour and a half in morning hot rush-hour traffic to get to the center of Paris. It was not air-conditioned, and many of us were very queasy on the ride. I would not do it again if it was that hot… I'd splurge for one of the shuttles that were about €17 per person and air-conditioned. I don't feel like our driver took the most direct route either, but perhaps he was avoiding traffic accidents we weren't aware of. The one thing that was convenient was that we were able to jump on a bus and go a half hour earlier than our reservation time. Since we were jetlagged, this seemed like a good deal.

My two cents...

Laurie adds an important point: the ride took forever - It was well over an hour and we had already spent an hour looking for the van/waiting for the van. And the route choice - interesting - not a part of Paris I'd driven through before.

Hm. Plan B is starting to look more and more like Plan A. RER-B train I think. We won't be in a rush and will only have one bag apiece so no need for a taxi. EasyBus sure sounded good in theory...

Two of our very experienced staff tried to take the Easybus from Paris TO the airport last year. It didn't come and didn't come, other people were waiting, and they realized they could not wait longer and had to grab a taxi, instead.

We used Easybus from CDG to Palais Royale on March 25, 2016 and will not use it again. The directions Rick Steves gives for finding it at CDG are accurate, but there is no signage for it. The van was almost 30 minutes late, and it's a small van, very crowded. Cheap, but poor value, in my opinion. Additionally, we left CDG at morning rush hour, so the ride to city center took a LONG time!

This is to address Laurie's idea that a shuttle would be better-- not really and for a lot more money. I've taken every form of transportation into town from CDG, except the motorcycle rides, and have had long, hot, cramped shuttle rides. Don't count on US style air conditioning. The only place I found it was the Air France bus for 17 a person. As for the shuttles, one driver pulled into the gas station on the outskirts of CDG to wait out the morning traffic for about forty-five minutes. It was a good strategy to save gas but I don't think the non-French speakers stuffed in the back of the van had a clue why we were there, for how long, if there was time for them to use the restroom, etc. They felt just the way you did on Not-so-Easy Bus.

RoissyBus is good for ten euros. RER is fine but they are all locals, stopping at a lot of stations, until just after 9, when express trains start running with limited or no stops between CDG and the city. Don't know if a taxi is such a good idea during rush hour.
