recommendation for terezin tour with pavel

The tour with Pavel Batel was powerful beyond what I had expected. We were picked up right on schedule at our hotel in Prague. Within minutes, Pavel began talking about the history of everything we were passing. He was professional, "beyond" knowledgeable and passionate about every part of Terezin. I had written him the names of my great grandparents who died there. I was so very touched that he had reserched their names, was able to tell me about much of their "experiences" there and even showed me the barracks where they had lived. It was a day that I was able , for the first time, to really connect with their memory and it was completely thanks to Pavel. Despite the difficulty of the day, I am so grateful that we had Pavel as a tour guide. He is an incredible guide and a wonderful person. Thank you Pavel. I will never forget the day we spent with you in Terezin.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just finished re-watching "War and Remembrance", and several episodes take place in Terezin.

Thank you for sharing your recommendation for Pavel Batel. Not surprised that Pavel went above and beyond in his research for your family. I agree, Pavel is an incredible guide and a wonderful person. Truly a day we will never forget. Like you, many forum contributors have acknowledged Pavel here. Would not hesitate recommending Pavel and his colleague Yvonne who does the Prague Jewish Walking Tours. They are the best of the best. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/most-memorable-2019-travel-experience-4e40d1af-df5b-4d2a-b9bb-2ad5702310d8

I toured Terezin with my teenage daughter and we found Pavel to be a wonderful guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic storyteller. The detailed stories about several personalities really helped us to appreciate how life in the ghetto had been. Pavel’s extensive research together with his presentational style made this day a very special, moving and educational experience. I highly recommend the tour.

Our tour with Pavel was amazing. He picked us up at our hotel and spent the next few hours sharing his extensive knowledge, concerning Terezin, with us. The tour was interesting and sobering. Pavel did a great job of making sure that we understood the events associated with Terezin. If you plan to tour Terezin, I recommend this tour without hesitation.

My wife and I were in Prague in December and planned on going to Terezin. We contacted Pavel based on recommendations on this website. Pavel picked us up in front of our Airbnb and drove us to Terezin in the snow. He dropped us back off at the same location at 4:00 p.m. Hard to describe the day - but I will say that without Pavel to unpack so many stories it wouldn't have come close to the same experience. His knowledge about Terezin is really deep and he will answer any question you have about Terezin or other subjects.

We were so intrigued with Pavel and Terezin that we subsequently purchased two of his books (you can get them on Amazon) and are enjoying a deeper understanding of both Pavel and Terezin. Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pavel - you won't be disappointed.
