Talk to your tour people. They must have had many requests before about the same.

I had my tour company arrange transportation. Another option would be to inquire what the hotel offers.

I took a taxi from the airport last October. I asked a gendarme for directions to the taxis. You walk out of the airport and across to a plaza where all the taxis are parked in no particular order. I had the name and address of my hotel written on a piece of paper and several of the drivers discussed it and then they all pointed at a particular cabby. BEFORE I got in the cab, I asked how much. You must also ask how much for the luggage or if luggage is included, or they will try to talk you up during the trip. All that being said, it is very helpful if you speak enough French to have a limited conversation with your driver. I got lots of smiles for that part, and the ride went very smoothly.

I had more difficulty at the airport when the "entering the country" x-ray picked up my bag of large M&Ms.... after a search, they realized I was not carrying large BBs or any kind of weapon and they let me into the country. Have a great trip!

Hello Jim,
My husband and I took a tour to Morocco with Odyssey's Unlimited during the last two weeks in January of this year. We loved Morocco, the tour company, our fellow travelers, and everything we saw and experienced. It was worth every penny. We had asked Odyssey how to find a taxi from the airport to our hotel (Tour Hassan) in Rabat. They told us the Sale Airport is small and easy to navigate. A taxi should cost us $20. (200 dirham) What they forgot to tell us was to be prepared to barter with the driver and settle on a price before getting in the taxi. On the way to the hotel my husband noticed there was no meter so he asked how much the ride would be. The driver was very insistent it cost $30 (300 dirham) This led to two tired travelers losing their patience and snapping a bit which all could have been avoided if we had known that negotiating price is part of their culture. The driver accepted 200 dirham ($20) and let us off at the entrance of Tour Hassan with our luggage and there was no further incident.

We also verified taxi prices with the information desk, in the ground transportation area. If I remember correctly, a range of prices was listed depending on the number in your party and size of vehicle. I don't remember the staff person telling us to negotiate the price. In this same ground transportation area there is an ATM machine where we obtained some moroccan dirhams to pay for the taxi. We were not sure if all the taxis take credit cards.

The previous poster gives a great description for locating the taxi drivers. Follow his advice.

Have a wonderful time on your Moroccan Tour!
