We are in Paris right now and had the most wonderful experience today. Our family of 4 (mom, dad, two boys ages 10 and 8) took a private guided tour of the Louvre through Paris Walks. Cerise was wonderful, incredibly knowledgeable ( my husband has a degree in art history, and he was impressed) and great with the boys. She focused on what we were interested in, Ancient Greece and Egypt, thank you Percy Jackson. There were so many things we would not have appreciated or seen without her. Did you know there was a room where you are allowed to touch the art? The boys loved that and we would never have found it on our own. It was definitely worth the 180 euros for the 2 + hour tour. (Officially it was to last two hours but she stayed with us for 2.5 hours.) The Louvre can be overwhelming. Our guide told us that if you spent 30 seconds looking at each piece of art, it would take over three months to see it all! Focusing on our interests really made it wonderful. Plus we got in the requisite photo op with Mona Lisa at the end :)
k - so happy to read that you had such a fulfilling tour. I have found most guided tours to be very much worth the price. I'll be keeping Paris Walks in mind for a future tour. Thank you for sharing.
Our girls are disappointed we aren't going to Paris. Perhaps sometime in the future - will keep this tip in mind! Thanks.
