Prague - Hotel Hastal

This topic comes up fairly regularly, so I thought I'd give a perspective from May 2018.

The hotel is amazing.
The breakfast (included!) is amazing. Both in decor and selection.
The location is amazing.
The owner is amazing.
The price is amazing.

We had two rooms - which they upgraded before we even got there. We did not ask for the upgrade nor were we charged for it, so it was a very pleasant surprise.

My 20 year old son and niece shared one room with two beds. It was small but more than met their needs. Beautiful view out of their window. We had the adjacent room and ours was more spacious with a little balcony to sit on to enjoy the beautiful view.

Walking distance to everything. We actually never needed to take public transportation anywhere. We ordered the car service the hotel offered both to and from the airport. I comparison shopped, and they had the best rates.

They were accommodating. When we checked out of the hotel we needed to drop our niece off at the airport (did not want to send her on the AE bus alone) and then the rest of us needed to get to the central train station. The hotel worked out a fair rate as any of our other transportation options were a combination of complicated/expensive/time consuming.

I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago with my sons. They let us check in at 8am! They even moved us to a huge room with a balcony with a lovely view. I'm glad to hear that the hotel is still a great choice!

Good point, thanks for reminding me! We also got there early intending to drop off our luggage and go out for a couple of hours. After a red eye flight imagine our excitement that the rooms were ready the moment we walked in from the airport.

We stayed there for a week in 2010. We were quite happy with it, even though it physically needed redecorating. Which apparently has been done. We will be staying there again this fall and are looking forward to the improvements. It is a great bargain.

One Correction:

We did need to take the tram (#22 - get off at the top, through the Royal Gardens - as Rick details in his book) to get to the Castle. Other than that - we walked...

The Castle can be walked from the Hastal, we did so twice. And the return is downhill.it is already a walk to get to the 22 tram.
