Part due: what I was glad I packed for the hiking

  1. Merrell lightweight hiking shoes with a little bit of a higher top for ankle protection with medium thickness smartwool socks. I was blister free!
  2. A hydration pack- I drank 4-5 L per hike and at times was so tires, it was easiest to suck on the hose rather than get a water bottle out of my bag.
  3. Detergent to do sink laundry. I had two pairs of hiking bottoms and 3 tops and 2 socks and washed my outfit every night in the sink
  4. Water shoes- the beaches are rocky. My showed were very lightweight and 10 dollars from Target
  5. Sunblock- there was very little sun protection on most of the trails
  6. Ibuprofen

What I didn't need:
1. Sock liners- I wore them the first day and then they ended up falling off of the clothesline at the hotel. But they didn't make a difference
2. Insect repellent- I wore it every day just on case. But no one else was getting bitten.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice along the way!

all good

three. an alternative is to get your kit off in in the shower and wash it while you shower (saves time and saves taking a separate detergent), plus you can wash your body with your kit (saves taking a washcloth).
