Parking tickets in Skye

Anybody know how to pay a parking ticket? All avenues exhausted. TIA!

Who issued the ticket? Is it the Council (with a yellow sticky envelope and PCN) for an offense in a Council car park or on the road, or is it a private company asking for a huge amount - like £100?

Did you take a picture of the Notice sign? Did you take a picture of the car with the notice on the windscreen?

Failing that, if you say where exactly you were parked we can help work it out...

Yes on Council and yellow envelope. Bayfield West. Paid £4 for 12 hours at 1700. Max is 12 hours, but no charge overnight. Returned at 9:30 am. PCN issued at 8:43. We have the notice, but not photo on car. Main concern is that we can’t pay w American credit card on line or on phone. Thanks for any help! Martha

I have no personal experience doing this, but several people on the forum have used the company Wise (formerly TramsferWise) to pay European traffic fines or deposits for apartment rentals. The fees are much lower than what a US bank would charge to transfer funds overseas. Perhaps Wise would be an option in your situation.

Problem resolved after several calls. Finally got through to a nice manager- she couldn’t get American Mastercard to go through either (even though the parking meter took the same card). She talked to her boss who discarded the penalty charge. For reference, tel no is +44 1463239786 in Inverness. And yes, it was Highland Council, PCN started w HC. Just a bump in the road along with a flat tire. Driving was hard! But trip was fabulous! Thanks, all!

We paid our £30 ticket on line within 5 days of the ticket being issued. A month later our rental car agency charged us an additional £30 because the Highland Council reported we hadn't paid the ticket. We also received a notice from the Highland Council that we owed them £60 for non payment. I contacted the Highland Council by email with the payment documentation and ticket number. Didn't hear anything so after a week I called them to find out the manager is on a 3 week vacation and is the only one able to look into this issue. Hopefully, this will be resolved and The Highland Council will also pay the fee with the car rental agency. One word of warning: The car park Pay to Park sign in Portree was blocked by a lorry/truck. Tickets were issued all around us. The payment machine is off the main exit with a small sign. We warned multiple drivers that also missed the signage and were grateful. BE AWARE there are very few places to park on SKYE that do not charge a fee including The Old Man of Storr.
Thank you to the person that posted the phone number of the Highland Council. I wish the person I spoke to was as nice as the woman you spoke to, but at least we might get this cleared up.

Hope yours gets worked out. Curious, was your credit card from UK? The online payment that I tried was rejected because US postal code wasn’t in format. Hope they get it fixed. You’re welcome for the number.
Btw, we paid the maximum that the meter allowed. But it starts over at 0800, so if you are parking overnight, be sure to add to meter the next morning!
