Paris France TR for Third Day

I am going to write and post in small batches because I lost the T R that I had previously written and was too tired to try again.

Toot Bus

On Saturday, I slept well and was able to get the Toot Bus early.

I loved the Toot Bus. It may not be for everyone but it worked well for me. It is probably best for those new to Paris, those with mobility issues and families with young children

I bought my ticket on the bus and it cost me 40 euros which I felt was worth it. It would cost less if you bought it online.

I did the entire route twice but I got off at the Orsay the second time.

I loved that we got so close to the Eiffel Tower and saw her from many directions.

We also had a picture stop at the Iron Lady

There were a few times when we got an announcement that a picture stop was coming and to get our cameras ready

Was not terribly impressed with the Champs d Elysees Many cities have exclusive shopping districts and the Champs was similar to others that I have seen.

If I misspell anything, it is because I can not look anything up on my iPad while typing. And I almost never use data on my phones Bear with me.

During my second go around, I got off at the Orsay and had no trouble getting in That will be another paragraph.

I would get back on the Toot Bus after my visit to the Orsay for the purpose of getting back to my hotel. It was now mid afternoon . The Toot Bus was now very crowded and we hit terrible traffic. It took a very long time to get back to my stop.

I could have gotten off other places but after my visit to the Orsay, I was ready to go back to my hotel. It had been a full day.

Saturday was a very good day

It does sound like a very good day, so glad you enjoyed the Orsay.

I could have gotten off other places but after my visit to the Orsay, I was ready to go back to my hotel. Very good idea. We only visit one museum a day. I asked forum members at a meeting how many hours they could stay in a museum, the general consensus was 2 - 3 hours. Hope you have as much fun tomorrow as you did today!

”Saturday was a very good day.”

Perfect! That’s what we hope for when we’re traveling. I am glad you are enjoying yourself after your long-anticipated planning for Paris! Isn’t it lovely?

I'm so happy you got to the Orsay! That is such a fabulous museum and so very different from the Cluny which you saw earlier....both in their collections, their museum spaces AND the crowds!

I hope in your update you'll tell us if you were directed to the access door for people with mobility problems or if you stood in line along the side of the building. You must not have had a problem with getting a last minute ticket which will be good for others to know as it often sells out.

Is your Toot Bus ticket good for more than one day?

I love the Orsay! And yes, only one major museum a day for me. I can do two only if they are small and can be enjoyed in an hour or so

Glad you had a great day.

First, i had no trouble getting into the Orsay. There was almost no line. I was expecting not to be able to get in at all

Yes, they looked at me and sent me to the line for people with disabilities and bang, bang, bang, I was inside.

So loved the Orsay. It was very highly recommended to me by forum.

There was a visiting Renoir show. It was very crowded and some of the works looked familiar I discovered the art was on loan from The Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Growing up in Boston, I had seen the works more than one time. That does not take away from the excellence but felt that I preferred to avoid the crowds and see art that was new to me.

There was so much art that I have no idea how much i saw and how much I missed. And I do not care I was very satisfied.

The Orsay is a beautiful and interesting piece of architecture all by itself.

The Toot Bus ticket that I bought was good for 24 hours but you can buy tickets that are good for 2 and 3 days. However the Toot Bus does not run 24 hours.

I think when I left the Orsay , there was a longer line. I was very surprised to find not much of a line when I entered

But there were separate lines for persons who had timed entry with or without tickets. And those lines were in a completely different area. I was in the area for persons who needed to buy tickets

Today, I had lunch with pony girl, also on forum. Her hotel is a very short walk from mine and a very similar hotel. We are in a great location.

It was my first authentic French meal in sit down restaurant.

She helped me pick out some out of the usual souvenirs for friends

Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating. It is cold and wet. It was supposed to clear up for the afternoon but did not happen.

I’m glad you are having such a great time bostonphil.

If you are using your iPad, you can type out your report in notes first and then copy and paste it in here as you finish each report post. That might be easier for you since it automatically saves and allows you to coma and go if you want to go and look something else up. Just a suggestion.

So fun to read along with you on your trip!

There was so much art that I have no idea how much i saw and how much
I missed. And I do not care I was very satisfied.

That's an excellent way to look at it. Relax & enjoy what you can. We have a joke that we rarely make it to the 'second floor' of a fine museum, one floor is more than enough for us! Now we have a list of 'second floors' we need to go back & see... especially in Rome & Naples.

"We have a joke that we rarely make it to the 'second floor' of a fine museum,"

@Sandancisco: Oh gosh, that made me laugh.....I found out after my first visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam that I should probably go to the TOP floor first and work my way down, hahaha!

I agree with Sandancisco...you saw what you saw and that was stellar. No regrets on what you didn't see. I've been in the Orsay many times and still I will walk by a painting and think....how have I not seen that before??...when I'm sure I have indeed seen it!
