On our 2nd day in Paris, we went to the St. Paul metro stop at 10:30 to take the "Paris Walks" tour of the Marais. No tour guide showed up. Two ladies from Ireland were waiting to take the tour also. I told them, "I'm not from Paris. I've never lived in Paris. But, I have a map and my Rick Steves guidebook. You are welcome to walk with us." Thus, I played tour guide to Ann and Margaret from Ireland. They kept feeding us MI-CHO-KO chocolates. We bought them coffee at the Royal Turenne café. We toured the Carnavalet and Victor Hugo museums and the Place des Vosges with them. They were really impressed with Rick Steves by the time we parted way at Place de la Bastille. We all agreed we were kind of fortunate the real tour guide didn't show up.
