Overlordtour - D-Day Tours

Our guide (Arno) was pleasant and very knowledgeable. We got off to a slow start by oversleeping and he kindly offered to take us to a café and pastry shop before our tour began. He made us feel extremely comfortable. The tour of D-Day sites was beyond what we imagined. We had time to walk the sites and our guide told the stories in a meaningful way. We saw a great deal and then some - Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, Sainte Mere Eglise, Utah Beach. We were told stories that were revealed by those involved on that fateful day. We are still talking about all that we did and saw and how appreciative we are of those young soldiers who hit those beaches and the paratroopers who landed behind enemy lines to bring freedom to the world. This tour should be on everyone's bucket list! We would recommend Overlordtour when you plan to visit Normandy.

Thanks for your post, tomlorenz39. I have just begun researching our options for a similar journey. Was your tour private or was it with a group? If a group, how many people? Was everything done in one day? Is there a specific tour name or number so I can check it out myself? Thanks.

Here is the link to our trip. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/AttractionProductReview-g187181-d15585362-Omaha_and_Utah_beaches-Bayeux_Calvados_Basse_Normandie_Normandy.html

We did not choose a private tour, but we were the only couple scheduled for the day with our guide. So it did turn out to be private. Our tour was a full day, 8:20 am - 5:30 pm. Our guide was very good and informative. We had time to walk around the sites, with two hours in Sainte Mere Eglise for lunch and touring the Airborne museum.

I've also taken a full day tour with Overlord. It was great.

They really came through because I had originally booked a tour with another company that canceled on me the day before. I called Overlord and they said it would be no problem.

We took a tour with Overlord in October last year and highly recommend them. Our minibus had approximately 10 people.

My son and I took a private tour with Overlord. We spent the morning similar to tomlorenz39s trip and the afternoon in a Willy's Jeep retracing the Band of Brothers. Our guide Thierry went the extra mile by also taking us to Carentan which wasn't on the original itinerary, but was important to my son. This was an expensive day, but worth every penny.
