We had a wonderful trip to Rome for 10 days at the beginning of November. We got so much good advice from this forums thanks to everyone!
The weather report was rain -all day every day. In reality more sun and cloudy days than rain.
We loved our hotel- Hotel Portoghesi. The staff could not have been nicer. We splurged and had a suite room-i it was quite charming and comfortable. A delicious breakfast provided-they did have an electric kettle available on request for guests like us that need coffee super early. We packed Via.-super early risers here.
We had a great Colosseum tour with private guide Carla Zaia. She was terrific! So knowledgeable. She took us on a great tour of the Colosseum and Palantine Hill. We then went through the Forum on our own.
We took an early entry tour thru Walks of Italy to the Vatican Museums. Another great guide and what stunning art on the way to the Sistine Chapel.
We enjoyed a tour at Palazzo Collona a privately owned palace that opens its galleries a couple of mornings a week.
We saw so many incredible sights Pantheon,Borghesi Gallery, Trajans Market,so many beautiful churches
A highlight for us was St Peters Basilica and Pope Francis weekly audience.
We could have stayed many more days and still so much to see!
Sounds like a wonderful trip!
