Norwegian Spirit heading towards Shimizu Japan

Well after a rocky start, it is smooth sailing and no pun intended

In a few hours, we may be porting in Shimizu Japan. I have an excursion booked where I will participate in a tea ceremony, visit a museum of a well known woodcarver and visit a beach for the purpose of maybe getting a good view of Mt Fuji

I did write this earlier but when I tried to post got a message that Safari could not connect with server and it was lost. So I am going to see if I can post this time before I do much more writing.

Phil, just an idea - maybe type up what you want to share in a word document (or similar) and save it to post when you have a good connection. I've noticed a couple of times you've lost what you typed up on the forum since being in Japan.

Can’t wait to hear your take on the tea ceremony. We participated in one in Kyoto.
Happy your trip is now ‘smooth sailing’, pun intended.

Cruise going well. Really enjoying myself and having fun.

Really liked Shimizu especially the art museum. Sailing towards Kobe now. I will do my own thing in and around port. We have a long day in Kobe which I am glad for

Still very hot. In Japan. I was expecting cooler weather.

Mary, i am not so tech savvy so as to work with documents or Word but your suggestions are always welcome.

Since the above post took, thought I would write more

I liked the tea ceremony and I liked where it was held Very pretty setting.. Did not quite understand its purpose. I did not feel anything spiritual. Maybe after more research, I will better understand.

But I loved the art museum next door. It was the work of one or two very well known artists. I have brought materials back and want to learn more about the artists.

Day began with a long walk from bus to pine forest and beach. Where we hoped to see Mt Fuji but were not so fortunate. This began the excursion and was very difficult on me. It was very hot and the group walked fast. It was a very long walk to and from. I could not keep up. And was often trailing. I felt excluded but the excursion got much better as the day went on. The pine forest and beach were beautiful. We passed a Shrine which I would have liked to explore but did not have the time. This is the down side of an excursion you move on group time, not your time.
