We had so many bumps on our trip that I think if I had the time to write about it, I could sell the manuscript to a movie studio and earn "Best Comedy" award! I am hoping in the future I can laugh; however, right now I am just glad to be home! The trip started with 2 flight cancellations and had to be rebooked, I was unable to see Leonardo Da Vinci's last supper painting due to arriving way to late in Milan, which had to be booked months in advance. That was the beginning...
I changed our final destination to Stresa for 3 days and we came close to not making our flight home, after I left my purse on the plane from Milan at the JFK airport ( I had a five hour layover, but getting it back was a nightmare and by the grace of God I just made the flight to our final destination) Myself and my granddaughter got locked into rooms, due to skeleton keys, not to mention using any key to open any doors was a struggle! The list goes on...
BUT the Aosta Valley is gorgeous, and full of history, Stresa has beautiful Islands to visit, Turin is a pure historic delight, Genoa is surprisingly underrated, Finale Ligure and FinalBorgo too were beautiful. We spent very little time in Milan due to the flight issues, but we did go to Lecco on Lake Com0 and enjoyed the day! Not every vacation can go well, and I am old enough to know S*#@ happens out of your control!
