Hello Everyone! I am scheduled on the My Way Alpine Europe in 12 days tour in September. I plan to go early - maybe 7-10 days or so before meeting the tour in Salzburg. Just wondering what you recommend that would fit nicely with this tour. Some considerations: Maybe fly into Vienna, visit Lake Hallstatt before Salzburg? Fly into Berlin and visit Berlin and Dresden before Salzburg? Munich? I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you!
I would fly into Vienna and spend 3 days there and see the summer and winter palaces, Demels Chocolate shop, just enjoy the city center and main church. Then I would take the train to Halstatt and stay 2 full days, visit the salt mine and cruise the lake. Then take the train to Salzburg and start the tour. Your going to have a wonderful time, especially in the Dolomites and in Switzerland!
I would fly to Berlin, so much history, WWII and Communist era. Fascinating to see it’s rebirth.
Thank you both for your suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time to help me plan my trip!
With 10 days, you could spend 4-5 in Budapest, 3-4 in Vienna, and 1-2 in Salzburg. There is much more to see in Salzburg than one full day there permits.
I did Eagles Nest and over-night Ed in Hallstatt and wish i had spent more time in the latter and surrounding villages just south of Salzburg, great area.
We flew into Prague and spent several nights. Hallstatt is beautiful, and I recommend at least one extra night in Salzburg
Thank you all for your replies!
If you did the My Way Alpine Europe trip, would you recommend the trip to Gimmelwald while in the Lauterbrunnen Valley for 3 nights? I don't want to rush things too much.... thank you!
