My Fun Trip in September

Hi Folks
Just returned from Venice, Paris, and Amsterdam.
There were 4 of us, 3 senior ladies and a friends 31 year old daughter. Two have never been to europe, I was in charge of tours and things to do. We rented an apartment, La Levatina, thru booking.com. It was a 2 bed, 1 bath in canareggio near san marcuola stop. Fabulous place on a canal, ground floor, patio outside to have have morning coffee and nighttime wine. Watched gondolas glide on by, workers with their tools or produce goods cruise by. Our hosts, rudi and ricardo were great. Walked all over, took some water taxis to airport, murano and burano. Lots of cafes shops stores around. Did a one day prosecco tour with oriana (oballiana@gmailcom). Emailed her couple months ahead of time, took morning train to susegana train station, she picked us up and off we went to prosecco road. Stopped at 2 wineries for tasting, had lunch somewhere and back to train station for ride back to Venice. Great tour and she is great. Walked a little aroun Murano, once was enough for me then onto Burano. Loved the island and the ambiance with the pastel colors of the homes there, had late lunch, waiting for vaporetto back and the mosquitos ate us alive. My poor friend had so many bites which i would not like to be there in the evening. Took a flight to Paris, for a 5 night stay there in an apartment, rented thru trip advisor vacation rentals, near the eiffel tour on rue de la comete. Great 2 bed 1 bath apartment on the 5th floor, large balcony, small elevator, washer/dryer. When we arrived had a man walking by playing his saxophone which was nice to hear. Went to Angelina's for a brunch, bought eiffel tower tickets early, walked to trocadero to see olympic rings and have dinner and wine, took a seine river champagne bliss cruise with get your guide, fun, montemarte and had a drawing done by marciel, lunch and walked down to moulon rouge taking pictures, onto the "I LOVE YOU" wall, luxemborg gardens and celebrated with champagne, took a train to Reims and did a 2CV car with A L' Allure Champenoise tours. What a great day that was. Friends walked to the Louvre, then onto ile st louis which was a fun area to relax and enjoy. Took a walk thru Rue montorgruell which was crowded and staring to close up but enjoyed the area. Had a great meal at La source near apt, had a yummy mushroom souffle at la recamier. The weather was nice except one day of rain. I LOVE PARIS Took the Thaylis train to Amsterdam, with a taxi to our houseboat rental at brouwersgracht and prinsengracht. Took me 2 days to find a place to stay and this was more than expected. Rented thru houseboathotel.nl. Walked around the joordan, ate at the pancake bakery, took a private canal cruise with fruit and booze, another cruise at night to see the lights, walked the red light district for friends to see, rembrandt plaza was busy, spent half a day at albert cuyp street market which was fun. This was a fabulous vacation for all involved and our two "virgins" who've never been to europe were so amazed and in awe of what we did with them, I'm sure they will be planning a trip again. Thanks
Aloha Princess Pupule

Sounds like you had a grand time! I am going to save this review - I want to (maybe ) take my two children to Amsterdam and Paris in summer 2018 or 2019. I think that the Reims / Hautvillers Champagne area is a wonderful place - the Chagall windows in the Cathedral at Reims is something I will never forget. And - a secret - you can find cheap (and delicious) champagne in those towns because there are many "house brands" with low prices, compared to the "big names" - - and it's all the same grapes from the same area and exactly as delicious as the Moet or Dom or Veuve !

And a prosecco tour - heaven! I love sparkly wine.

p.s. My Grandmother used to call me "Princess Pupule" - so I had a double-take when I saw your forum name! Thanks for this great review.

Sounds like so much fun! Reims changed my life - I had champagne with meals and champagne breaks in the morning and afternoon!
