I do not understand the reason for splitting a trip report into several topics. It becomes very difficult to follow as the "parts"end up out of order as people post to them.
Why not just keep adding posts to one topic?

I agree Christi. I've often thought that the people who do that don't know that they can just continue on the same thread. When they add something it will automatically bring it back to the top so others will see it. I like trip reports but when they come on with 3 or more different threads I usually don't even read them.
They are inexperienced posters who have had not taken the time to understand how the site works regarding multi postings or very long postings. Sometimes I have sent PMs advising them how to do it but the response is mixed so now I just ignore them.
I am sure many people enjoy trip reports, and there are many informative posts on these boards. But I rarely find trip reports helpful so don't read them. The thought of a gargantuan "multi post" trip report is anathema to me. Nice of people to let the ops know you can do it all in one post however.
I never read the trip reports. I am interested in hearing about a friend's travel or a short tale of adventure and midadventure from someone on this forum but that's about it. My attention span is not long enough for parts 1 to 4.
I don't think you should says you don't read them but I don't read every one either. But there has been some great reports posted. There are some very good writers here. I do read reports in detail if they about a future travel area within the next year.
I have to say I read and enjoy them all. I am pleased travelers will take the time and make the effort to share their trips here.
I actually do enjoy them as well but it's nice when experienced posters share helpful hints to others...that's how we all learn!
I am leaving in less than 2 weeks for my trip and at this point I'll read anything that has the word Christmas markets in it :) Oops, that's two words
I enjoy reading the trip reports. I don't always respond but like others, I do appreciate the time taken to write them. I sometimes get some good ideas for places to visit or eat!
A few years ago some nice person sent me a PM about tacking on to my original post instead of creating new ones and I really appreciated it. If I visit more than one country I do create separate ones so people who are interested can focus on whichever country appeals to them. I do enjoy reading people's reports, even for places I am not ever likely to visit.
There was a great series of posts not long ago, in four parts. Other multi-posts are harder to track (same title, parts 1-20); I get lost.
If I post a series of reports, each will have a city name in the title, so people can read what they want.
I love to read Trip Reports. I do prefer that they are in one thread just because it helps me with continuity. I also love the ones with lots of detail including clothing choices and shoes, what worked, what didn't, what the person would do differently next time.
I go thru all of them even if I don't comment and particularly enjoy trip reports from people who have taken an RS tour.
Sobbing, now that I know Norma hasn't read my fascinating Trip Reports.
For Ms. Jo -- your fans read every word.
Mrs EB yours was just one of many I've seen - I enjoy reading them but dislike having to hunt around for the different parts. I'm one of those who likes things in order.
Ms Jo, even though walking the Santiago de Compostela is not on my to do list I loved your report and read every word.
Love the reports & I think people just don't know they can continue their report by adding comments to the original post. I know I didn't until someone pointed in out to me via private message.
Ms Jo, I read all your reports and love them!
Mrs EB, I think you can revise the title of your post when you add to it - perhaps add "updated" followed by the date?
If I write longish trip reports, they usually involve several days in the same city. The day-by-day reports are wonderful, and I get tons of useful information, but if I were doing reports that way, I would try revising the title each day, or just continuing the post.
MrsEB, sure there were better ways to do it, but I don't get the criticism. They were worth the minor effort to go to you profile and click on MrsEB's posts to find the continuation. Thank you.
