I have been calling our chance visit to this area "the quintessential Italian experience!" Chiesa Ignano is an old church the Bolgeri family has refurbished into several lovely apartments. It is located above the town of Vado, approximately 30 minutes from Bologna. We had not planned to go anywhere near Bologna, but had decided against going to Milan and ended up at Chiesa Ignano for a couple days before heading to Venice - only 1 1/2 hours away. Family owned and run, the hospitality extended by the Bolgari family was an experience we will never forget. Peaceful and serene, from the moment we arrived we felt we had found "a little slice of heaven!!" Visitors here will be welcomed by acres of land, hiking, hundreds of roses, and most of all, Gabriele and his wonderful family.
