Made it to Spain!!

We left on 9/8/21 and had a nice flight from Atlanta to Madrid, but the Madrid airport was a little crazy because we had to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 and you have to leave the airport and travel several miles to get to it. Then we had to switch to Iberia airlines (who sets a new standard for slowness) but eventually we got our boarding passes and through security and then found out we where assigned to gate “HJK”, which means that you stand close to a departure board and 45 min before you depart your gates pops up, but we finally got to the correct gate and landed in Mallorca so all is well.

Spain has their act together regarding the Covid epidemic, everyone has no problem wearing a mask indoors or on transportation services. When you arrive they check your passport and QR code and your good to go, no one has asked for our CDC vaccination card yet.

The weather is beautiful and the Cathedral of Palma is awesome. The Mallorca wines are impressive and so is the seafood!

Today we moved to Port de Soller and plan on five days of enjoying the beach and hiking. I may even do a scuba diving afternoon excursion later this week. Overall the trip is going well and Spain is very open to vaccinated Americans who are willing to wear a mask when indoors.

How did you get a QR code?

https://www.spth.gob.es/
From this official website you can fill out a health control form prior to arrival and obtain SpTH QR Code to show it at the control point upon arrival in Spain. It's required for all visitors, not to be confused with a Covid health pass like in France.

The QR code form is easy to fill out and you get your email back in just a few minutes. Spain takes this code very seriously, we were checked several times in both Madrid & Palma airports. There was sign at the entrance to the cathedral that all cruise ship passengers had to go through a special gate and have their QR code checked.

Indeed it is as is the sorbet made from local oranges in Soller if you manage to find some. Definitely try Tumbet, you should have no problem finding it as it's Mallorcan speciality as well as Pa amb oli particularly with extra crushed tomatoes, excellent for breakfast.

Enjoy Mallorca, we'll be there next month hopefully after having cancelled our trip in August and last summer, we typically visit twice a year as we love it so much.
