Hi, We just came back from London - Venice and Prague this June. We did these 3 countries in 2 weeks.
Crazy ? Yes as We have to fly from one country to another which entails additional time and cost. Most of the forum discouraged me from doing 3 places that are far from each other but in the end ,after much thought I stuck with my original plan of London - Venice and Prague. We don't get tired of London and every time is a good time to go back . We wanted to see Venice again after 10 years. As for Prague, everyone says it's beautiful and We have never been.
We stayed at Covent Garden in London. It was such a convenient area that it made us love London even more! We walked to Trafalgar Square, theaters , London Eye and almost everywhere that We only needed the travel card for one day. We went to Bath for a daytrip and it is true that it was quite rush so We didn't enjoy it as much.We didn't have afternoon at Ritz as there were no availability on the day we wanted to go instead we had it at a hotel close to Harrods. I can't remenber the name at the moment but the ambiance was not there. I told myself for our next trip to London, I would definitely reserve the afternoon tea at Ritz months ahead of time.
Venice has so many Wow moments. It was so beautiful .Riding the Vaporetto at night was magical.
We happened to stay In a room with a veranda and were serenaded by the gondoliers singing when the gondolas passed by. There were 4 of us so we took the private water taxi as our hotel has a landing dock. It sort of made me feel like being in a James Bond movie where the water taxi was running so fast and we have to duck our heads as we passed through the smaller lower canals. Venice is so beautiful and is one of those places that I would love to go back again. As a note, it is true that you need to make sure you validate/ stamped your ticket on the machine before you enter the Vaporetto because there were inspectors that checked the tickets.
Prague is beautiful but in my humble opinion and this is just my own opinion , it cannot compare to
Venice . Perhaps if We didn't go to Venice before Prague , we would have love Prague more. We took a daytrip tour to Cesky Krumlov . Castle was beautiful but definitely not enough time. As the forum said, best to be appreciated if you spent the night there.
sally,
Great report. I havent been to Venice or Prague yet. Prague is this on my list this Sept and i so far ive been going back to London on my return trip just to spend a day or 2.
Comparing things is normal for people i feel but when doing so something will always end up the looser. So i dont do it but look at how each place is unique and interesting. There is so much to do/see over there if i had the time & $$$ i would see everyplace.
happy trails.
