Happy to report a wonderful, but brief 2 /12 days in London before our real vacation to Ireland. The Pelham Hotel recommendation in Steve's book was spot on! Steve suggested emailing the hotel, mentioning his books, and seeing what price was available. We got a very good price, below the website price. Thanks. Not cheap, but Steve says "When I splurge on accommodations, I do it in South Kensington." Perfect location. We stayed in the Blue Room, and honestly I think it was the best bed I have slept on in my entire life. I thought of buying it and shipping it to California. Its just a couple of blocks walk from Victoria and Albert Museum. Across the street from the South Kensington Tube. One block from a bus stop for the Hop-on, Hop-off tour, by The Original Tour (which included a 25 minute barge on the River Thames from Wesminster to the Tower of London. That basically bookends both ends of the major sites). The hotel was just perfect in every way. Thanks again Rick.
