London/Grantham/Cambridge Anniversary Trip

My husband and I recently spent a week in London for our 20th Anniversary. We had an amazing trip and every moment was well planned and created just to our interest. In preparation for our trip, I hired Euro Travel Coach to create a custom itinerary for us. It was so worth it as they took care of every detail, but gave us the best part of making the fun decisions like where to stay and eat!

To start, we choose to stay at the Brook Green Hotel in Hammersmith. It was a wonderful small hotel that we would have never found on our own. It was clean, bright and fun. It was a reasonable price and the staff was easy to work with. One of my "requirements" for the hotel was that I wanted a full English breakfast everyday. The Brook Green had a wonderful pub attached to the hotel and the breakfasts were fantastic with plenty of options to choose from each day.

An absolute highlight of our trip was eating at The Core by Claire Smith. MAN! It was incredible. It was pricey, but experiencing that type of restaurant and service is a once-in-a-lifetime thing (at least for us!) Once again, it was EuroTravel Coach that found and booked this for us. We just wouldn't have known about how to go about it on our own.

After a few days of sightseeing in London, we took the train to Grantham as I spent a semester of college 25 years ago at Harlaxton College outside of Grantham. It was so fun to see that the reality of the grand manor house was even better than my memories. From there we took another train to Cambridge for the afternoon/evening. We went to Evensong at King's Chapel. That is so worth the time and effort.

We finished our trip by spending our last day back in London and enjoying a fantastic Sunday Lunch at Quality Chop House and then having the VIP Champagne Experience on the London Eye. That was really cool.

Overall, this trip far exceeded my hopes and dreams. One of the really great things EuroTravel Coach did for us was to mail us Rick Steves' London book that I was able to reference along the way. I even just tore out the pages about Cambridge and took them with me on our day trip as I didn't want to have to carry the book in my bag.

Glad the anniversary was so special. You only have your 20th once.
