Local Guide in Assisi

Based on recommendations here and good reviews on Trip Advisor, I scheduled a half-day tour of Assisi with Anne Robichaud. She is so great! Her obvious love for and knowledge of Assisi shines through in her enthusiasm for the city. She has lived in Assisi for over 25 years and knows the city well. It was a pleasure to begin to understand the history and stories behind such a beautiful city. The day I took the tour with Anne, there were only 5 people in the group, so it was easy to follow along with her explanations. She took us through the Basilica di San Francesco, breathing life into the world-famous frescos and the tomb and relics of St. Francis. The tour of the basilica was made more enjoyable by Anne's obvious love of and respect for the sanctity of the site. As we walked through the remainder of the town, Anne made sure to share her information, as well as answer all of our questions. Following our tour, Anne walked me through town, pointing out shops and restaurants I would enjoy during the rest of my stay!

A few days later, I joined Anne and another small group for a tour of Spello. Before going to Spello, we stopped in Collepino for lunch at La Taberna S. Silvestro Ristorante for a wonderful lunch. Anne, who is fluent in Italian, was helpful in ensuring we all tried the local specialities made with fresh, quality ingredients. This wonderful tiny town is a gem I would never have found without Anne. The trip through Spello was great and really helped me to get to know a little about this charming town in a short amount of time!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Anne, and I would gladly tour with her again!

I too have toured with Anne and I agree. Anne is terrific and her tours are unique and fun. Her rural life tour around to the local farms, not agriturismos, is just a blast.

Anne is the very very best. We have used her guide services in Umbria (and she also referred us to excellent guides in Florence, Amalfi Coast and Venice). I also was luck enough to attend one of her cooking sessions in Los Angeles. Our group had a fantastic learning experience and a great meal provided by us with Anne's guidance. A wonderful lady.
