Last day in Paris, sort of

Today is my last day in Paris, sort of.

I am going to spend the night in a hotel at CDG. My plane leaves mid afternoon tomorrow. I did not want to deal with rushing so i am choosing to take a taxi to the airport today. I have a leisurely morning and hope to relax at CDG before the long ride home.

Tying to reduce stress and chaos.

Today looks to be nice weather wise. I did not have good weather. There were two nice days and two horrible days with the rest in between.

A friend visited Paris early to mid March and had beautiful weather the entire week so you do not know.

I had a very satisfying week. I am very happy with what I chose to see and do. I feel the Toot Bus was a very good choice for me. I liked my hotel a lot. Real nice staff and fabulous location

But I ate poorly and spent too much on food. Could have done it better

And I feel so bad that I had a poor sleep before meeting my Paris Greeter. I was blah and he was trying hard to introduce me Paris. He deserved more than I could give him. I made a nice donation to Paris Greeters and gave our stroll a five.

Weather makes all the difference, doesn’t it! We deal with less-than-perfect weather but we don’t have to like it. :-) We are in Northern England and there is an Arctic low making temps low and winds high. Not great for the coastal hiking we planned.. But we carry on!

I agree with reducing stress and chaos. A taxi can be just the thing! Hope your last day is a pleasant wrap up.

As many on forum know, I usually take a cruise once a year. And I usually travel in the fall.

This vacation, I chose a week in Paris during the Spring.

Both are good I loved spending one week in Paris but I love my cruises. A week in one place seemed a little more relaxing but I love that the cruise line takes care of a lot of the logistics once I get on the ship.

Would love another week long vacation somewhere in the fall. Anyone have suggestions?

Having problems with my keyboard so I may end for now.

Sounds like you had a wonderful week, full of surprises, and yes some blah days. That's just the way travel goes, it's never perfect, it's just like life!

Meeting my Paris Greeter. I was blah and he was trying hard to
introduce me Paris. He deserved more than I could give him. I made a
nice donation to Paris Greeters and gave our stroll a five.

Jet lag sucks! Sounds like you did the best you could do & I'm sure you were kind & gave him whatever attention you had to give. It's really the only thing besides the weather & paying more than you'd like for food, everything else sounded great! So it was indeed a wonderful trip, I think you should be very proud of yourself for going outside your 'cruising' comfort zone to spend a week in Paris!

My insomnia kicked in the night before I was to meet my Greeter. I had been up since midnight and never could get back to sleep before we met at 10 am. No one is at fault. Just the way it is.

I am at an Ibis Styles at CDG. Not bad. I do not want to review it until after breakfast in the morning

I ate lunch at Radissen Blu across the way for lunch and it did not work for me. The prices were very high 19euros for a hamburger but there was a vegetable soup for 16 euros. I thought great but it was not clear broth with vegetables. It was a thick and creamy soup with something green in it maybe it was something like Cream of Celery.

It was too thick and creamy for me but I did eat half of it

I could have had a salad here for 9 euros. Did not realize it until now.

I am getting ready to have dinner here

I jut had a coffee here but forgot to say Americano and ended up with expresso.

You seem to be quite the traveler so I don't know where you have not been to yet to make a suggestion. Is there anywhere you visited during one of your previous cruises that you wish you had stayed longer?

I usually go on my solo international trips in the fall to avoid the crowds (and when kid is back in school). I had a great time in Copenhagen and Stockholm in early September. I'll be heading to Krakow and Budapest this fall. Spain and Portugal also provide great options and you could pick just one place to settle, relax and explore. I've visited Japan in spring and I'd love to return in the Fall.

Hope you have a smooth and uneventful trip back home.

Hope you've had a good trip home, loved your trip reports!

I would suggest that once you're recovered, you post a new thread asking for feedback about the type of trip you'd like to take - Europe? Asia? How many days? When in the autumn? What did you enjoy about Paris so what might you like on your next trip? When friends ask me where they should travel, I ask them what they consider 'the perfect' day on vacation', quietly taking a walk? Museums? Churches seem very important to you, so that might be on your list.

I have a suggestion- river cruise. Sent you a private message with details of current sale that waives the solo supplement.

Hi Sandisco

I am beginning to recuperate and am very seriously thinking about the next one.

I have about 130,000 rewards with Southwest and am going to give them a call next week.

I would love a non stop from Austin and am open to suggestions in any direction.

I am thinking of somewhere south of the border or even Canada in the other direction.

Just thinking. I will be posting asking for suggestions soon.

or even Canada in the other direction.

I'm currently sitting at Montréal airport. I think you'd enjoy a Montréal and Quebec City trip.

Enjoy planning your next trip. Do you want to travel independently or take a tour? How many days do you have in mind? That info might help to focus the suggestions.

Hello Barbara N and others

Probably want to go somewhere in October.

I want it to be at least a full week but less than two weeks, land only or land with cruise.

Wherever I go, I want to fly non stop from Austin and would like to use my Southwest rewards. Might want to stay closer to home.

I need to call Southwest and see where they fly non stop from Austin. Open to possibilities.

And I think that I might like the next one to be more nature oriented rather than city oriented.

My very first cruise years ago was the Eastern Caribbean on Norwegian Epic.

Thinking about Western Canada, any of the northern states, Mexico, The Caribbean. ....

Norwegian has a cruise that travels along the west coast of the United States. They also offer a cruise from Boston to Canada during leaf changing season. That cruise is supposed to be very beautiful but hotel prices in Boston are outrageous.

you don't need to call them, this info is easily found on their route page: https://www.southwest.com/route-map-list-view Click Austin as the departing airport and tick the "nonstop" filter button at the top. There are 60+ nonstop options from Austin (my home airport only has 13).

This looks like a fantastic cruise! I hear you on Boston hotels. We were going to visit it as a family earlier this year and switched gears somewhere else because of hotel prices (it was also spring break season). Last time I was in Boston was 2005!

Joy

I have not been to Boston in many years. Love the city.

I will be flying on rewards so i can afford to splurge on my hotel but because I have famiily and friends back there, I would need to spend a minimum of 5 nighs.

If I was just going for the cruise, I would spend two nights because of hotel prices.
